Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell works as a journalist for NBC News based out of Washington D.C. Mitchell has an undergraduate degree in English from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career with KYW Radio and TV as a Philadelphia reporter in 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS affiliate WDVM-TV in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington she was named general reporter by NBC News two year later. 1981 was the year she began reporting on for the White House, and in 1988 was named chief congressional Correspondent. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992, and chief Foreign Affairs reporter for NBC News. Mitchell appeared as both the host and panelist for the TV news show Meet the Press. She was on the panel in the presidential debates in 1988 between George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan a former chairman the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell has been awarded her Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in the John F. Kennedy School of Government. Also in 2004, Radio-Television News Directors Association, (RTNDA) was honoured Mitchell for her work to the cause of First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the first journalist to report on White House stories for NBC News during the time of Ronald Reagan as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell covered a variety of notable news reports, including weapons control, the budget tax as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
